JUDGING CRITERIA 2026

To be judged, please follow the below instructions:
  • Doors unlocked (9am – 4pm, daily)
  • Car parked (all doors closed)
  • Bonnets down (judges will pop when needed)
  • Windows up (owners can lower windows after judging)
  • Convertible roof up (owners can lower convertible roof after judging)
  • Interior accessory mats must be out (stored in boot if needed)
  • Boot shut (not judged)
Judges will have the contact details that were supplied when registering. These will be used to contact the owner in case of car alarms etc. 
1. Check Vehicle
  • Current Reg (where applicable)
  • Current WOF (where applicable)

2. Exterior
  • Paint, condition, gloss level, no orange peel, scratches & smooth
  • Body Panel condition (Panels straight), alignment, body fit
  • Bumper, condition & fit
  • Brightwork, chrome, grill or plastic trim condition & fit
  • Glass, including windscreen & doors (no vertical scratches etc)
  • Wheel / rim condition, no curb marks – check inside wheels
  • Tyres, tread, even wear & condition
  • Wheel & tyre cleanliness
  • Overall car exterior cleanliness

3. Engine Bay
  • Engine bay paint condition
  • Underside of hood paint condition
  • Wiring correctly clipped and tidy, insulation tidy & correct
  • Battery correctly secured & terminals clean & corrosion free
  • Engine paint condition / engine plastic cover condition
  • Engine accessories paint / alloy condition
  • Radiator condition, check tank, front & back for fin condition
  • Engine & radiator cleanliness (check front of rad. for bugs etc)
  • Engine bay & under bonnet cleanliness incl chassis rail

4. Interior
  • Seat, door trim & Interior panels, seatbelts (if fitted) condition & fit
  • Lower dash area, gauges, sun visor, headliner condition and fit
  • If Convertible, (as above), roof condition & fit inside & exterior
  • Carpet condition and fit
  • Dash top area, steering column, gear lever, console, condition
  • Overall interior cleanliness
  • Correct car handbook & relevant docs, ie build sheet, sales docs etc
  • Car owners dress relevant to period of car or spirit of Ayrburn.
