Think linen shirts, tailored chinos, lightweight jackets, polos, loafers, suede boots, leather belts and classic sunglasses. A linen blazer over an open-collar shirt works beautifully, as does a more relaxed combination of chinos, polo and driving jacket. Look for natural, earthy tones – stone, olive, navy, tobacco, cream, tan and soft blue.

 

For her

Linen dresses, flowing skirts, tailored trousers, beautiful blouses and relaxed summer tailoring. Pair with loafers, boots, flats or a comfortable block heel, finished with a Panama, wide-brimmed hat or beautiful sunglasses. Natural fabrics and understated colours feel perfectly at home amongst Ayrburn's lawns and historic buildings.

The Ayrburn Classic celebrates more than a century of automotive design, so taking inspiration from the era of your favourite car is encouraged. Perhaps it's the elegance of the 1920s and '30s. The effortless tailoring of the 1950s. 1960s Riviera style. Or the colourful confidence of the 1970s.

 

You don't need a complete period costume. Often one beautifully chosen vintage element is enough – a silk scarf, driving jacket, sunglasses, watch, handbag or hat.

 

Take inspiration from the cars rather than feeling you need to dress exactly like their original owners.

Sunday at the Ayrburn Classic brings a little extra style to the show field with Ladies’ Day - a celebration of women in motoring, fashion and fabulous hospitality.

 

Alongside an extraordinary line-up of cars, enjoy a day of beautiful food, Central Otago wine, live entertainment and Fashions on the Field, where Classic style takes centre stage.

 

Gather the girls, dress for the occasion and settle in for a Sunday at Ayrburn - whether you’re here for the cars, the fashion, the long lunch, or a little bit of everything.

Your love of cars can absolutely be part of the outfit.

 

A classic racing jacket, beautifully made automotive polo, vintage marque cap, driving shoes or heritage motorsport piece can work perfectly at the Classic.

 

Vintage Porsche, Ferrari, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz and motorsport apparel can look fantastic alongside contemporary pieces.

 

And with Porsche as the 2027 Marque of the Year, this may be the weekend to bring out that favourite piece from Stuttgart.

Families don't need to dress formally, but coordinated colours, classic pieces and comfortable footwear can make for a great day – and even better photographs.

 

Think smart polos, linen shirts, summer dresses, shorts, chinos, hats and sneakers.

 

And for our smallest motoring enthusiasts entering the Junior Concours, presented by Assurant, a little motoring flair is very much encouraged.

 

Matching the driver to the pedal car? Even better.

The Ayrburn Classic takes place across a historic working landscape with lawns, gravel, gardens and areas of uneven ground.

 

You'll also likely cover considerably more ground than you expect while exploring the cars, fashion, art & jewellery. 

 

Loafers, flats, sneakers, driving shoes, boots and block heels are all excellent choices.

 

Very fine stilettos?

Perhaps save those for dinner.

February at Ayrburn can bring glorious sunshine, warm afternoons and cooler mornings and evenings – sometimes all in the same day.

 

Come prepared.

 

A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are highly recommended, along with a light jacket or layer for later in the day.
